Feed a Stray

evergreen programme

they remember every kindness ♡

Feed a stray.

Quiet kindness, every morning.

a meal for the ones nobody is waiting for

why this exists ↓

In nine Indian cities, our local feeders walk the same route every dawn. The same eight or ten dogs are waiting at the same corners. We supply the food, the deworming, the rabies shots — the feeders supply the love.

Bhima

rescued from a Mumbai railway crossing

Bhima

age 4 · rescued from a Mumbai railway crossing

For a year, he waited at the same gate every morning. We never named him. The feeders did. Bhima — strong one.

Bhima was found beside the Bandra tracks, eight months old, hit by a slow-moving local. He was treated at our partner vet, lost three toes, and learned to run on three legs. He was never adopted — too big, too scarred. He became one of the colony dogs, and Mrs. Pillai (78, retired teacher) feeds him at 6 a.m. every day. He waits at her gate. He has waited at her gate every morning for two years. "He is not mine," she says. "But he is somebody to me."

here's how →

How it works.

01

A feeder is matched to a colony

We work with people who already feed dogs informally — we resource them, formalise the route, vaccinate the animals.

02

Food + vet care delivered

Monthly food drop. Free deworming, rabies shots, sterilisation through partner vets.

03

Updates from the route

Photos and short stories from the colony every quarter. The dogs you fed have names.

My route is forty-seven dogs. They each have a name now.

Sterilisation is what actually breaks the cycle. We do six hundred a year.

Questions, asked plainly.

India has 60+ million street dogs. Shelter capacity nationwide is under 50,000. Our model — feed, sterilise, vaccinate in place — is the only one that scales. The animals are happier in their colonies than in cages.
